Marquees
The marquee lawn overlooks the lake and you are free to choose the size and style you would like directly
with our approved contractor, Mudway Workman. Please contact them directly for a quote. For approximately 100
guests prices start from around £3,500 and all marquees must have a wooden floor throughout. For a Saturday the
marquee will go up on the Thursday before and come down promptly on Sunday morning. You are welcome on site from
10.00am on Friday morning to decorate your marquee. Any use of the marquee the week after the wedding
for charity or local functions is at the discretion of Upper Court.

Accommodation
Our five self-catering cottages are booked for three nights (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) or one night
for a midweek wedding. Guests can check in from 4pm on Friday with departure by 10am Monday morning. There are 3 or
4 more rooms in the Manor. If you would like to book these, depending on availability, the rate is £110.00 without
breakfast or £130.00 with breakfast, minimum stay 2 nights. We have cottage floor plans on our website.
We ask that you let us have a full list of guests and also of those guests staying in each cottage.
Due to our insurance and Health and Safety and Fire regulations it is imperative that only the named guests stay in
the designated cottages/rooms.
We also own our village pub, The Crown inn, which is just a 3 minute walk up the lane and has four rooms
sleeping 11.
Music
Due to our village location, all music must cease at 11.30pm. Prior to your day we ask you to nominate a
person(s) to help oversee the closing down of the marquee and departure of guests not staying at Upper Court at the
end of the night. Music must be kept at an acceptable level at all times and we ask that you make your band/disco
aware of this prior to the evening of your wedding. The electricity supply to the marquee must be switched off no
later than midnight. You can, of course, continue the party in the cottages!
St Nicholas Church
The pretty parish church of St Nicholas is connected to the garden at Upper Court by a latch gate.
Non-residents can marry by arrangement. The Rev. Roseanne Roberts 01684 293729. There is also a lovely Catholic
church in the village, St Benet’s. 01386 725286.
Civil Ceremony
The Manor has a license for 60 people to get married in the hall. For smaller numbers the drawing room is
available. For a ceremony in the Manor without a marquee reception, the hire is £350.00. Registrar 0845

Confetti
Natural flower petals are fine on the grass (but not outside the front door of the Manor). No paper
confetti please.
Catering
We have six approved catering contractors for you to choose from who all come highly recommended. They can
organise hire of crockery and cutlery, table linen and serving staff and some offer a full wedding planning
package.
Corkage
You are able to bring your own alcohol with no corkage charge. You can arrange a pay bar in the evening if
you wish or can set up a bar area and continue with your own drinks.
Entrance Gates
We suggest the front gates are closed on the morning of the wedding so that everyone uses the back gates.
This leaves the front of the house clear of cars for photographs. The car park by the back gates is clearly signed
and floodlit. Please provide us with any laminated signs you would put outside the gates for your guests, ie name
of bride and groom. The front gates are opened for the arrival of the bride and groom.
Health and Safety
The boat on the lake is not to be used unless by special arrangement for the bride and groom. The swimming
pool will be closed during the wedding celebrations and the lake. The areas around the cottages are
lit.
Fireworks & Sky Lanterns
Due to wildlife and bird conservation around the lake, fireworks are not allowed any where in the grounds.
Please ensure any lanterns released are biodegradable.
Security Deposit
A security deposit of £500 is payable one week prior to your wedding day. If any damage is incurred on the
property or inside the cottages we will inform you after the event and you will naturally be liable for this which
will then be deducted from the security deposit. Please let your guests know you may have to pay this so they take
care. Please make sure everything is returned to the correct cottage if moved and garden furniture put back where
it belongs.
Taxi’s
Guests not staying at Upper Court should pre-book taxis to leave no later than midnight.
Children
Guests must take full responsibility for any children invited to Upper Court due to the risks of the
water. Do ask if you would like us to recommend a nanny.
Storage
We ask for everything to be collected by the end of the week following the wedding. We regret we are
unable to keep anything beyond this time.
Parking
There is plenty of parking on site for your guests.
Access
We have a hardcore road for contractors to the marquee site to ensure they do not drive on the
grass.
Water
There is access to water for caterers by the marquee.
Disposal of Rubbish
We provide a skip for disposal of rubbish, including catering waste.
